The End: Are You Prepared

Today, we face turmoil in the world. Wars and rumors of wars run rampant. I find myself smiling whenever I see a roll of duct tape or any type of plastic sheeting. My government is trying to tell me to prepare. God told us long ago to prepare. Because He forewarned me, I have no fear of anything that might happen in this world.

Reflecting on preparedness, I look back to Noah. God forewarned and told Noah to build an ark. He worked on preparing that ark for 120 years. He and his family survived a global flood. Noah was … Read more

The Value of Life

As we look at the newspaper or watch the news on television we could get the impression that the value of life has gone down. We see the senseless crimes that take life. We see people used and abused. People have become a commodity to many. To many, human life has become little more than a number or statistic.

I believe that it is time that we take a look at another perspective. The Bible, Gods Word gives us quite a different view.

The Father’s love

Have you ever had a really bad day? You had a fight with your spouse. That led to an uproar among the children, you are late leaving for work and then along the way, for some unknown reason, a driver nearly hits you, then looks at you and is gesturing. Reading his lips, you know he is swearing???? Finally, you arrive at work, park the car and walk towards the building. As you near the entrance, a young man pushes past you. But then, he opens the door and grandly stands aside saying, “Enter here my friend.” At that moment, … Read more

Two Jars

The preacher placed two identical jars on the table next to the pulpit. He quoted 1 Samuel 16:7 “The Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

“These jars came from the same factory, were made of the same materials, and can hold the same amount. But they are different,” he explained. Then he upset one and it oozed out honey. He turned over the other, and vinegar spilled out.
“When a jar is upset, whatever is in it comes out. Until the jars were … Read more

God’s Eternal Ink

I dreamed I was in heaven
Where an angel kept God’s book.
He was writing so intently
I just had to take a look.

It was not, at first, his writing
That made me stop and think
But the fluid in the bottle
That was marked eternal ink.

This ink was most amazing,
Dark black upon his blotter
But as it touched the parchment
It became as clear as water.

The angel kept on writing,
But as quickly as a wink
The words were disappearing
With that strange eternal ink.

The angel took no notice,
But kept writing on and … Read more

I Saw Jesus

I saw Jesus last week.
He was wearing blue jeans and an old shirt.
He was up at the church building;
He was alone and working hard.
For just a minute He looked a little like one of our members.
But it was Jesus,
I could tell by His smile.

I saw Jesus last Sunday.
He was teaching a Bible class.
He didn’t talk real loud or use long words,
But you could tell He believed what He said.
For just a minute, He looked like my Sunday School teacher.
But it was Jesus,
I could tell by His loving … Read more

Rain

She had been shopping with her Mom in Walmart. She must have been 6 years old, this beautiful red haired, freckle faced image of innocence. It was pouring outside. The kind of rain that gushes over the top of rain gutters, so much in a hurry to hit the earth it has no time to flow down the spout.

We all stood there under the awning and just inside the door of the Wal-Mart. We waited, some patiently, others irritated because nature messed up their hurried day. I am always mesmerized by rainfall. I got lost in the sound and … Read more

The Window

Two men, both seriously ill, occupied the same hospital room. One man was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs. His bed was next to the room’s only window. The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.

The men talked for hours on end. They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation. And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, … Read more

You Are Not Alone

I have read this little story recently about an visitor from out-of-town who drove his car into a ditch in a desolated area. A local farmer came to help along with his big strong horse named Buddy.

The farmer hitched Buddy up to the car and yelled, “Pull, Nellie, pull!” Buddy didn’t move.

Then the farmer hollered, “Pull, Buster, pull!” Buddy didn’t respond.

Once more the farmer commanded, “Pull, Coco, pull!” Nothing.

Then the farmer said very nonchalantly, “Pull, Buddy, pull!” And the horse easily dragged the car out of the ditch.

The motorist was most appreciative and very curious. … Read more

The Duck

There was a little boy visiting his grandparents on their farm. He was given a slingshot to play with out in the woods. He practiced in the woods, but he could never hit the target. Getting a little discouraged, he headed back to dinner. As he was walking back he saw Grandma’s pet duck. Just out of impulse, he let the slingshot fly, hit the duck square in the head, and killed it. He was shocked and grieved.

In a panic, he hid the dead duck in the wood pile, only to see his sister watching. Sally had seen it … Read more

Testimony of Prayer

From a Woman Who Survived Mental and Physical Abuse and Fear

I am an average woman who grew up in a city, and like so many of us, have lived through a terrifyingly abusive relationship. I would like to share my story with you so that you will come to believe that there is salvation through prayer, and that no matter what type of situation you are in, the Lord can take you through it!

Growing up, I lived in a small house with my mother, who was a religious woman, and a stepfather who drank; my biological father died … Read more
